Cobweb Lycra for Circular Sock Machines
Give your hand-cranked socks a little extra stretch, recovery, and staying power with Cobweb Lycra, a very fine elastic thread designed to be carried along with your sock yarn while knitting.
Cobweb Lycra adds elasticity without significantly changing the look or feel of your yarn. When carried with your main yarn, it can help knitted fabric stretch comfortably and spring back into shape, making it especially useful anywhere you want a little extra hold.
Why use Cobweb Lycra?
- Improves stretch and recovery so your knitting is less likely to remain stretched out after wear.
- Helps socks stay up and reduces slipping and sagging.
- Excellent for cuffs and ribbing where good recovery is especially important.
- Adds elasticity throughout the sock when carried with the main yarn.
- Extremely fine so you get the benefits of added elastic without adding a bulky elastic strand.
- Works with your favorite sock yarns rather than replacing them.
- A little goes a long way, making a cone a useful addition to your CSM supplies.
- Product Details: 2 ounces of coned lycra, 999 yards
How is it used?
Cobweb Lycra is typically carried together with your regular yarn while knitting. Use it selectively in areas such as the cuff or ribbing, or carry it farther through the sock when additional stretch and recovery are desired.
Because every machine, yarn, tension setting, and knitter is different, we recommend experimenting with your setup to find the amount of Lycra and tension that gives you the feel you prefer.
Perfect for CSM knitters looking for better-fitting socks that stretch comfortably and bounce back into shape.
